Equality and Diversity

Winslow Church of England School demonstrates a strong culture of inclusion through our vision, values and culture of the school.

Staff and Governors are committed to promoting equality of opportunity across the school community and take seriously the requirements of the Public Sector Equality Duty as defined by section 149 of the Equality Act 2010.

In summary, those subject to the general equality duty must have due regard to the need to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  • Advance equality of opportunity between different groups
  • Foster good relations between different groups

Equality Objectives for 2026 - 2028:

Objectives

Ensure every pupil experiences an inclusive school culture where diversity is valued, protected and actively promoted, and where all pupils feel they belong regardless of protected characteristic or background.

Embed an ambitious and representative curriculum that enables pupils to understand, respect and celebrate diversity, challenge stereotypes and prepare for life in modern Britain.

Improve outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils by identifying and removing barriers to learning, ensuring equitable access to high-quality teaching and the wider curriculum.

Promote positive representation by ensuring pupils encounter diverse role models, experiences and perspectives that broaden aspirations and challenge stereotypes.

Develop pupils' understanding of local, national and global communities so they value difference, show empathy and contribute positively to society.

We are pleased to announce that we have achieved the Silver Equalities Award!

This is a fantastic recognition of the work we are doing across our school to promote equality, inclusion, respect and a strong sense of belonging for every member of our community.

Achieving the Silver Award reflects the commitment of our pupils, staff, governors and families to create a school where everyone is valued, differences are celebrated, and all children have the opportunity to thrive. It is particularly pleasing to see how our values are reflected in the everyday life of our school, from our curriculum and collective worship to the way we support and learn from one another.
